Rainy Day Fun

Bike Ride-Road bike

Last week I was sent home early from work due to the rain and muck. By the time I got home, the rain had stopped and it became beautiful outside so I decided it was a great day for a bike ride. I suited up and headed out.

The rain-slicked asphalt glistened beneath my tires as I set off on a road bike adventure around Corona. Crisp air, laced with the earthy scent of rain-kissed citrus groves, filled my lungs, a refreshing contrast to the mucky mess of my job site in Menifee.

The once-slick asphalt has regained its grip, offering a smooth canvas for your tires. As you pedal, a rhythmic whoosh fills the air, punctuated by the playful patter of raindrops clinging to the leaves.

Reaching a hilltop, I was met with a breathtaking panorama. The rain-washed landscape, reborn under the sun’s golden kiss, stretched out before me. Mountains, still shrouded in mist, stood proudly against the clear blue sky, like ancient sentinels guarding this verdant kingdom.

The descent was a dance of exhilaration and bittersweet joy. Every turn revealed a new glistening leaf, a patch of wildflowers pushing through the damp soil, testaments to nature’s relentless spirit.

Throughout my journey, one thought kept going through my head, “keep going.” I had this tug to keep pushing myself. Pushing my legs and my mental fortitude. Every time I got to a corner to turn and head towards home I would tell myself to keep going. I took all the long way around. I road down 6th street through all the potholes and driveways, over the Magnolia Freeway Bride past the on-ramps, and over the Cajalco Bride leaving the Corona crossings.

This post-rain Corona ride wasn’t just a physical journey; it was a quiet communion with the magic that emerges after the storm. A chance to reconnect with myself and to see the wonder our God has created. With each pedal stroke, I felt the remnants of the downpour wash away, leaving behind a renewed sense of wonder and awe.

So, as the sun climbs higher, casting long shadows across the drying roads, I encourage you to embrace the transformative power of a post-rain ride. Let the damp air invigorate your spirit, the glistening landscape fill your eyes with wonder, and the quiet symphony of nature whisper its secrets to your soul. You might just find, as I did, that the magic of a rainy day lingers long after the storm has passed.
